The police have returned the revolver, which was found lying in an open suitcase in Manimajra late on Tuesday to it’s rightful owner. On Tuesday, around 11 pm,police had received a call about an open briefcase containing a gun and other documents in Manimajra. When the police reached the spot,Pankaj,an employee working in a showroom in the area, told them that he noticed the briefcase lying next to his scooter when he was going home after finishing his work.

Apart from a Webley revolver, the briefcase contained ATM cards,a cheque-book,three live and three used cartridges and other documents. The police immediately swung into action and based on the documents inside the briefcase, the gun was traced to Angrej Singh,an agriculturist based in Ambala.

Inspector Rajesh Shukla,Station House Officer (SHO) at Manimajra police station, said,“Singh is a member of the National Rifle Association of India. On Tuesday,he had come to Chandigarh in his car. The driver of the car had kept the suitcase in the car trunk and the briefcase was probably stolen. Unaware of the theft, the owner did not register a police complaint.”

“We have handed over the suitcase along with its belongings to the owner after verifying all the documents of ownership,” added the SHO.
