After ikkat kurtas and seaweed scrub,Fabindia has now stepped into children’s publishing. It has tied up with Young Zubaan and Apeejay Press to bring out new titles in children’s fiction every month. “Earlier this year,Fabindia decided to collaborate with a range of small publishing houses that do a lot of cutting-edge work in children’s fiction,” says Prableen Sabhaney, head of communications,Fabindia.

The books have been divided into categories such as Pre-School (less than 3 years),Early Readers (4-7 years) and Advanced Readers (8-12 years). You can pick up titles such as Mister Jeejeebhoy and The Birds,Elephants Never Forget and Aditi’s Adventures that are rich in illustration. Some of the authors whose work will be available are Anita Balachandran,Nirupama Raghavan and Anushka Ravishankar. “We’re collaborating with authors and illustrators whose works are about Indian traditional tales, colours and motifs,” says Sahiba Suri of Fabindia.

Apart from the promise of new books every month, another aspect to look forward to is the affordability of the books. These start at Rs 50 and go up to Rs 450 for books for older children. These are largely pictorial and in some cases, bilingual as well. The titles will be available at Fabindia outlets
