I have a small pond in my garden and want to grow a few aquatic species. Can you suggest a few? Where can I get them?

Suraj Prakash,Chandigarh

Since you have a small pond,it would be better to put hydrilla as it emits oxygen, which is good to keep water oxygenated and also sustains other plants. The other options could be salvina, pistia or miniature lotus. You can explore the possibility of procuring them from a local nursery.

Can I grow hydrangea here in Chandigarh? Where can I get this plant? Any specific instructions?

Kartar Singh,Chandigarh

Yes,you can grow hydrangea here but with a little effort. Firstly, you will have to select a place which is not directly exposed to the sun. You can place it under a tree too where it is hidden, but has suitable light. These plants are available from any local nursery,or if you happen to visit Shimla, you can purchase them from the wayside nurseries.

I have tried to grow pudina in my garden many times but the leaves die in the rain. What could be the reason?

Pratibha,Mohali

Standing water is fatal for this species. Better to grow it at a location which has good drainage. It could be somewhere near the water source too.
