Double delight for Nandini

It was a day of double delight for Chandigarh's Nandini Sharma as she emerged as the winner in the singles as well as doubles category on the concluding day of the U-10 Harvest Tennis Academy Open at Jassowal.

It was a day of double delight for Chandigarh’s Nandini Sharma as she emerged as the winner in the singles as well as doubles category on the concluding day of the U-10 Harvest Tennis Academy Open at Jassowal.

In the girls’ singles final,Nandini Sharma ended the challenge of Zeel Desai of Gujarat with a comprehensive 4-2,4-1 win. Playing a superb game,Sharma claimed the first set with a margin of 4-2 before claiming the second set in the match with a margin of 4-1. In the girls’ doubles category,Sharma paired up with Apekshita Alkesh to end the challenge of Prinkle Singh and Bani Singh. Nandini and Apekshita claimed the first set with a margin of 4-0 before claiming the second set with a margin of 4-1.

In the boys’ category,Sumitpal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir emerged as the winner as he defeated fourth seed Karandeep Singh 5-3,2-4,5-3. it was tough going for Sumitpal as he had to work hard for this win. Sumitpal claimed the first set with a margin of 5-3 before losing the second set with a margin of 2-4. Sumitpal regrouped his energies in the third and final set and claimed it with a margin of 5-3 to lift the title.

Boys : Singles : Final : 2-Sumitpal Singh (J and K) bt 4-Karandeep Singh (PB) 5-3,2-4,5-3; Doubles : 1-Shubham Malhotra (DLI) and Alex Solanki (DLI) bt 2-Sumitpal Singh (J and K) and Karandeep Singh (PB) 4-1,4-1;Girls : Singles : 2-Nandini Sharma (CHD) bt 3-Zeel Desai (GUJ) 4-2,4-1; Doubles : 1-Apekshita Alkesh (DLI) and Nandini Sharma (CHD) bt 2-Prinkle Singh and Bani Singh (PB) 4-0,4-1.
