British designer Gareth Pugh, whose clients include the likes of Kylie Minogue,Beyonce Knowles and Lady Gaga, was in Mumbai last week to launch a unique neck-piece created in collaboration with a diamond company. The armour-like necklace, studded with 101 Forevermark diamonds and 5,500 tiny diamonds,is a statement accessory that reflects his trademark unorthodox style. The diamonds are set in geometrical shapes made using a stainless steel base, which is not a common choice for jewellery. I like the idea of mixing together two disparate elements. Steel certainly does sound very industrial, but we have worked it like you would a precious metal, and it has a delicacy to it that is quite unexpected, said the designer. Pugh was also impressed by Mumbais sights, smells and sounds. I have always wanted to visit India and would best describe the place as a complete sensory overload, he said.
