Day temperature falls in Himachal

The maximum day temperature in Himachal Pradesh dropped on Friday due to cloudy weather conditions while the minimum temperatures rose by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Shimla recorded maximum day temperature at 12.5 degrees C against 17.1 degrees C on Thursday while Nahan,Sundernagar,Solan and Bhunter recorded a high of 20.9 degrees C,19.8 degrees C,19.8 degrees C and 18.4 degrees C against 25 degrees C,23.2 degrees C,22.5 degrees C and 21.7 degrees C respectively on Thursday.

The fall of 4 to 6 degrees C in maximum temperatures was attributed to cloudy weather accompanied by strong winds sweeping the region.

Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 25.6 degrees C while Manali was coldest in non-tribal areas with a low of 3.0 degrees C.

Shimla recorded a low of 4.2 degrees C,followed by Solan and Dharamsala 5 degrees C,Bhuntar 6.8 degrees C and Una and Palampur 7 degrees C. Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti recorded a low of minus 8.3 degrees C while minimum temperature rose above freezing point after more than one and a half month stay at 2 degrees C.

The rise in mercury has increased discharge of water in snowfed Sutlej,Ravi and Beas rivers.
