Real estate company dupes two of Rs 7 lakh

CHANDIGARH: Two residents of Sector 16-D on Thursday alleged that they had been duped of Rs 7 lakh by a real estate construction company. Police said the complainants alleged that directors of the company – Harpreet Singh and Hardeep Singh – struck a deal with the complainants for the purchase of a luxury office suite in Zirakpur,Punjab. As per the deal,the complainants paid 10 per cent (Rs 7 lakh) of the total sale value of the office to the accused in 2011. Police said,the accused assured that the project will take 18 months to complete. However,when the victims visited the construction site,they found it to be defunct. The victims alleged that Harpreet and Hardeep closed down their office in Sector 22-C and did not take their phone calls. The victims said they later received a cheque of Rs 50,000 from the accused after their repeated demands of a refund. However,the cheque bounced,claimed the victims. A case of cheating has been registered against the accused with the Sector 17 police.

Theft at irrigation department office

CHANDIGARH: The Chief Engineer with the Irrigation department,Punjab alleged that unknown persons on July 1 stole the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of a computer from Room No. 1,Pension department of the office. The complainant Bajrang Dal Singla,said the CPU was present in the office on July 1 till the office closed down at 5 pm. However,the next morning,officials noticed that the CPU was missing. A case of theft has been registered with the Sector 19 police.

Police registere 2 cases of missing persons

CHANDIGARH: Two separate cases of missing persons were registered with the Chandigarh police. In the first case,a resident of Sector 20-A alleged that his wife Shalu has been missing since August 7. Police said,Shalu,25,left the house without informing anyone and hasn’t returned since. In the second incident,a resident of Ram Darbar alleged that his daughter Navpreet,15,has been missing since August 7.

One injured as bike and scooter collide

CHANDIGARH: Heera Singh Ranga,75,a resident of Manimajra alleged that he was hit by a motorcycle on Friday while he was riding on his scooter. Police said,Ranga was hit by Deepak Chopra near BSNL turn around 4 pm. Ranga suffered injuries on his legs and was taken to Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector 16. A case of rash driving has been registered with the Manimajra police.
