Cong protests against grim power scenario

Accusing the ruling SAD-BJP combine of failing to keep its promises,the District Congress Committee (DCC),Bathinda Urban on Monday held protest in the bazaars of the city and submitted a memorandum to Bathinda Deputy Commissioner to forward it to the Punjab Governor.

Holding placards,the protestors rallied from Gol Diggy to the DC office,raising slogans against government. The protest was spearheaded by Bathinda MLA Harminder Singh Jassi,DCC Bathinda Urban president Ashok Kumar and Congress leader Kewal Krishan Aggarwal.

The memorandum demanded round-the-clock power supply for Bathinda according to an earlier notification in which Bathinda was accorded special status as it houses a coal fired thermal plant. The memorandum raised as many as 23 demands concerning public issues.
