Satires with a public appeal, that’s Nark Yatra Ka Sukh

His humour is laced with thought-provoking subjects. For life and people around us are the inspiration for Jaswinder Sharma’s latest,Nark Yatra Ka Sukh, published in Hindi by Penguin. Having written a novel, short stories, poetry, this collection of essays, according to the author are not literary but have a public appeal and writing these were a different challenge altogether,an absorbing one though.

“These are different from newspaper articles that I have been writing for long and had as many as 400 satires in my kitty. This collection is serious, but paradoxical and it took me a year to write, for I had to change the texture, but yes,it was a unique experience and with the book in Hindi, the reach will be far and wide,’’ explains Sharma. Various subjects, colours, situations, each essay introduces you to facets and double standards of society,be it a dig at children scoring 95 per cent, the Lal Kitaab syndrome, the relationship between police and crime,new-age poets and literary giants, old age homes…it’s a large canvas, one that paints a true picture of double standards, corruption, politics. Light-hearted and subtle, these will bring a smile on your face and

compel you to think.
