Theres more to an egg than meets the eye,and last week,we discovered there are just about 300 ways to see it. The recently-concluded Chicken and Egg Utsav in Chandigarhs Parade Ground,Sector 17,dished out all that there is to the two poultry products, including a line-up of treats and trivia. Organised by National Egg Coordination Committee(NECC) in collaboration with Asias largest poultry conglomerate Venkys and Vencobb, the two-day event in the city ran to a packed house. Since Punjabis love food, many being chicken and egg lovers,we thought it right to organise it here, said Arvind Chauhan of NECC. While the menu was a big draw, the highlight was live demonstrations by chef Jaikishan,an egg expert from the Hotel Management Department of Gyan Vihar University. Disclosing over 300 egg recipes, the chef showcased many of his specialities, including Anarkali Disco Chali. It so happened that when the song was being shot in Jaipur,I was making a special dish for the cast of the film. Since it was spicy one,I decided to name the dish after the song, he said. During his sessions, out of all the recipes,Egg Rubbari and the Egg Roll won him applause from the foodies. Incidentally,Jaikishan holds a record with the Limca Book of Records for making Indias largest roti, with a diameter of 12 feet, along with two other chefs,Manoj Srivastva and Sanjay Sharma. Apart from the sessions, the event also involved games for children, such as Egg Dart and Egg Painting.
