Free lunch

There are no free lunches in life,but if there are,well nobody wants to leave an opportunity. That is precisely what happened in the three-day ENT workshop help at PGI where over 700 delegates from all over the country including some high profiled doctors were present. At lunch time,the small hall which was turned into the dining area was overcrowded with doctors,students and teachers so much so that nobody was able to walk through without ramming into each other that too with a plateful of food. Because of the presence of so many persons in that hall with a capacity of about 200 people,everyone was soaked in sweat while eating. Inside it became so claustrophobic and just then two doctors were heard saying,“Seemed like we had lunch sitting right over the oven.”

The Anna Effect

As the city erupted in celebrations after Anna Hazare broke his fast,the after-affects of the Anna Hazare movement were visible in the House Meeting of the Municipal Corporation. But in this case for all the wrong reasons. As a BJP councillor got up to thank Anna for his feat,there was an adverse reaction from the Congress. The exchange of words that was then witnessed was certainly not something Anna would have been pleased with.

Unlocking the codes

The sleuths of Income Tax department,these days,are busy understanding the hidden secrets of the new gadgets including tablets,which have hit the information-technology market. Be it the ipads,or the tablets,income tax officers are busy surfing the internet or contacting the gadgets’ dealers in the city markets to teach them the hidden secrets of the new gadgets. “Officers are coming to us,almost every other day,with one or another tablet or ipad,requesting our help to either unlock the gadget or find the place,where the hidden information is saved on such gadgets. With the new gadgets coming in the market,the officers are also bracing to crack the offenders’ ‘codes’,said one of the gadget dealers in Chandigarh.
