PAU ex-VC MS Kang fears for his safety

Ludhiana: Dr Manjit Singh Kang,former Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University fears for his and his familys safety post his outburst against the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. Dr Kang had lambasted the SAD (B) government for,arm twisting and humiliating me. Kang said I will be informing the US embassy about all these things just to be on the safe side. The things that have happened to me are simply bizarre. I would seek an appointment with the VC to talk about the pension issue and he instead of addressing the issue would start off about my conduct. The CM insists that I spoke against him on the PAU 201 issue while they have do not have a single statement to show, adds Dr Kang.

Bittu calls off hunger strike

Ludhiana: Ravneet Bittu,President Youth Congress Punjab and MP Anandpur Sahib ended his hunger strike after six days on Friday. Bittu got a written assurance from the Chief Minister regarding formulation of drug advisory board within one and a half months. Deputy Speaker Vidhan Sabha Satpal Gosain and ADC SR Kler came to hand over this official letter to Bittu who was fasting along with 11 activists. Though Gosain was keen to handover a glass of coconut water to Bittu,but he preferred to take it from 70 year old Harnam Kaur ‘Namo’,a resident of Maqbulpura locality of Amritsar. Kaur’s husband and six sons died becuse of drug addiction and her seventh son is still an addict. Kaur said,Our area is named as locality of widows because more than 400 men have died in this locality because of drug addiction habits.
