HC notice to mewat DEO
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notices to the Haryana government,the district education officer (DEO) of Mewat and others on a public interest litigation (PIL) demanding action against the education officer. Petitioner Bijender Singh,a resident of Jind,has alleged that the DEO committed serious financial irregularities but no action was taken against the officer due to her strong political links. The petitioner has demanded an independent inquiry and investigation in the guest teacher scam and JRC fund misuse scam and directions to the state to withdraw the financial powers from the officer and initiate proper departmental action against her as per law.
Punjab,Haryana told to set litigation policies
Chandigarh: To avoid unnecessary litigation,the Punjab and Haryana High Court has asked the states of Punjab and Haryana to come up with litigation policies so that cases that do not merit appeal are not filed. The states have been asked to complete their litigation policies and place them on record. The directions were passed during the resumed hearing of a suo motu cognisance taken by the High Court last year.

Haryana sets up fertiliser committee
Chandigarh: The Haryana government has constituted a State Fertiliser Committee under the chairmanship of financial commissioner and principal secretary of the agriculture department to advise the government on grades or formulations of mixtures of NPK fertilisers,mixtures of micro nutrient fertilisers and their specifications.
