Walk Shimla Walk campaign by NGO tomorrow

Shimla: To encourage people to revive the old practice of walking for work and as well as leisure,a Shimla-based NGO,Ashadeep,will organise a Walk Shimla Walk campaign on October 23. Ashadeep President Sushil Tanwar said the objective was to promote the culture of walking that once used to be the hallmark of Shimla. Walking is a possible answer to the problems of increasing vehicular pollution,road congestion,accidents and health problems, he said. The walk will be flagged off from Ambedkar Chowk at Chaura Maidan at 10 am and will be received by Shimla Mayor Madhu Sood at The Ridge.

Sunil Chaudhary new Kinnaur DC

Shimla: Dr Sunil Chaudhary,Additional Deputy Commissioner,Shimla,is the new Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur,while Shainamol A,an IAS officer of 2007 batch,will replace him at Shimla as ADC. S Roy,a 1978-batch IAS officer,on return from Central deputation,has been posted as Financial Commissioner (Appeal),relieving P Mitra,Principal Secretary (Revenue and Reliefs) of the additional charge.

Hooda Govt hikes guest teachers pay

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has enhanced the remuneration of teachers engaged as guest faculty with effect from July 1,2010. A spokesman from the office of director,school education,said remuneration of JBT and drawing teachers had been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per month and that of masters and language teachers (Hindi/Punjabi and Sanskrit) from Rs 11,000 to Rs 13,200 per month. The remuneration of lecturers has been increased from Rs 13,500 per month to Rs 16,200 per month,he added.
