Shimla: Ujjain House of the Rashtriya Military School,Chail,won all-round ‘best house shield’ for the current year while Taxila House and Nalanda House together scored the second position. The shields were presented to the winners at the 85th annual day function of the school on Saturday. Brig A P Bam,Commander,PH & HP,(I) Sub Area,Ambala,was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to cadets who excelled in academic and non-academic fields in the previous academic year. Trophies of heritage value were given to houses that excelled in various fields. A cultural programme was organised by the cadets.

Ashadeep sends woollens to Leh

Shimla: Shimla-based NGO Ashadeep handed over woollen garments and blankets to the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) for its distribution among the cloudburst-hit Leh victims in the wake of ensuing winters and expected snowfall. The vehicle carrying relief material was flagged off by ARTRAC Major General R P Singh on Monday,a released issued by the NGO said.

Stone laid for multi-storey parking lot

Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal laid the foundation stone of a multi-storey parking complex at Chhota Shimla on Monday. The parking lot to accommodate 250 vehicles will come up at a cost of Rs 11.68 crore. Speaking on the occasion,the CM said the government was concentrating its efforts to increase parking space to de-congest Shimla. The six-storey parking complex will have 30,000 square feet as commercial area. The construction work is likely to take about one year.
