Boyfriend arrested for murder of woman

A man was arrested on Friday for the murder of his girlfriend,who was shot dead outside an ATM in Hardev Nagar area on Thursday night. According to the police,the accused — identified as Komal Randhawa — killed the woman because she had recently ended their relationship.

Around 9.15 pm on Thursday,car-borne assailants had shot dead Neetu (30) when she was standing outside an ATM with her six-year-old niece. She sustained two bullet injuries on her back. After the attack,the assailants fled from the spot. “Randhawa runs a finance company. We have also recovered the weapon used in the murder,” said ADCP (City 1) R K Sharma.

According to Neetu’s neighbours,after getting divorced,she used to stay with her parents. She has two children who stay with their father in Amritsar.

While sources in Neetu’s family claimed that Randhwa used to tease her,the police claimed that both had good friendship.

But in the recent past,Neetu had started to ignore Randhwa.
