Their embellished headbands have been a favourite with celebrities Paris Hilton,Natalie Portman,Katie Holmes and Khloe Kardashian for years. Husband-wife duo Deepa Gurnani and Jay Lakhani of the celebrated New York-based accessory label Deepa Gurnani have since moved on to designing jewellery,footwear,bags and resortwear. The talented duo recently launched their Gatsby-inspired collection at Mumbai concept store Bungalow 8 in association with StyleCracker. With a bedazzling line of neckpieces,magnetic cuffs,belts,hair clips and clutch bags in hues of gunmetal,gold and silver,the collection showcases a vintage vibe with contemporary chic. “It’s inspired by the ’20s,but we’ve given it a dark and muted look and modernised it with crystals. It’s necessarily a Gatsby meets Star Wars collection,” says Lakhani. The couple,who also retail a line of kaftans at Bungalow 8,are looking forward to editorial spreads and styling work in India. “We’ve received a few offers for styling for Bollywood films as well,” says Lakhani.
