Three unidentified assailants allegedly attacked a Mohali-based neurosurgeon with knives while he was returning home in his car on Saturday evening. The attack took place near Phase 5, Mohali, and the miscreants fled the scene soon after.

Dr Vineet Saggar, a neurosurgeon at a reputed hospital in Sector 71, said, “I was on my way home from the hospital when three men on a motorcycle intercepted my car near Phase 5. As I stepped out of the vehicle, they attacked me. One of the assailants tried to stab me and I narrowly escaped as his knife hit my kara.” He added that the bike didn’t have a number plate.

“A few days ago, while passing near the court complex, some men on an Activa scooter also tried to stop my car. I ignored them and drove away. I had informed the SHO of Phase-1 police station via text message and requested action. However, no action was taken, and now this,” he said.
