The Nawanshahr police took SAD (Panch Pardhani) chief Kulbir Singh Barapind under preventive arrest from his village in Jalandhar,which falls under Jalandhar (Rural) polices jurisdiction. While Nawanshahr police officers a team led by SP Dharam Singh Uppal arrested Barapind said that he was arrested in view if the Bharat Bandh,his partymen claimed that the SGPC member had neither given any bandh call nor supported the one given by the SAD-BJP alliance. Barapind,who was sent to Ludhiana jail,was extradited from US for trial in three cases pertaining to terrorists activities and was later acquitted by the court. Nawanshar SSP Dhanpreet Kaur confirmed Barapinds arrest and said the village falls on Jalandhar and Nawanshahr district border,so Nawanshahr police arrested him.
