Two days after bike borne two assailants opened fire targeting a luxury car rental office in Mullanpur, the Ludhiana Rural Police Monday nominated gangster Kaushal Chaudhary in the FIR.
According to the police, six hours after the miscreants opened fire, the owner received a threat call demanding Rs 2 crore ransom.
Apart from Chaudhary, the police have booked Pawan Shokeen and Mohabbat Randhawa along with their unidentified aides.
According to the FIR lodged at Mullanpur Dakha Police station, one of the partners of the firm stated that at around 4.26 PM he received a WhatsApp call from a foreign number. The caller claimed himself gangster Pawan Shokeen threatened him and demanded Rs 2 crore extortion money. The caller threatened that they will not let him ply his vehicles on the road if money was not given to them.
Chaudhary is allegedly linked to an organised crime network and faces around 30 FIRs across various police stations. He is also reported to have ties with the Bambiha Gang. He was earlier brought on a production warrant for questioning from Gurugram in connection with firing at the house of an ex army man who had received Rs 5 crore extortion call.

Three operatives from the gang of fugitive gangster Rohit Godara were held in Ludhiana Monday following an exchange of fire with the police.
Ludhiana police commissioner Swapan Sharma said that the apprehended men were wanted in the recent January 6 firing case registered at Haibowal police station pertaining to the brazen firing at the shutter of a readymade garments shop in Haibowal area allegedly carried out by the members of Rohit Godara.
“Police teams laid a checkpoint in the Ladian–Jassian area after receiving inputs about three masked suspects. When the suspects attempted to break the checkpoint and opened fire on the police party in a bid to escape, police also fired in self defence,” said Ludhiana Police in a statement.
