Most parts of the city enjoyed uninterrupted power supply for two days due to the ongoing strike by the PSEB employees. These employees have now decided to come back to work from April 16 midnight, following a meeting with the CM.
Yesterday,however,84.94 per cent staff was still on strike, and today nearly 84.26 per cent employees did not come on duty. A total of 575 complaints were disposed off yesterday and today, this number was around 400.
Although the PSEB had hired staff from other departments for two days, due to thin strength, the complaints were being disposed off till late. In jagjit Nagar area, the fault was not repaired even after five hours of registration of the complaint because the staff had gone to attend some major fault on the Jalandhar bypass road.
Consumers were told by the PSEB well in advance that such problems could occur for two days. From tomorrow onwards, consumers are expecting regular power cuts, because the staff managing sub-stations will be back to work. It was indicated that cuts might increase for a few days. Meanwhile,Parkash Singh Mann, general secretary of the PSEB Employees Joint Forum said,Although the CM has agreed to most of our demands,an agreement will be signed between employees and government after 10 days and if the same is not done,we will restart our struggle.
