CHANDIGARH: On the occasion of the 80th martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh,Sukhdev and Raj Guru,the Municipal Corporation honoured 14 war widows by presenting them with a memento and shawl. The function was organised at Martyrs Pillar,Terrace Garden,Sector 33.

Music concert forsenior citizens

CHANDIGARH: As part of its 16th anniversary celebrations,the Chandigarh Senior Citizens Association organised a music concert at Tagore Theatre. Dolly Guleria,a renowned singer and daughter of the late Surinder Kaur,regaled the audience with her performance. UT Advisor K K Sharma was the chief guest. Brig Keshav Chandra,president of the association,hoped that being a patron of the association,he would keep on encouraging the senior citizens. V S Sodhi,a senior member and former vice-president of the association,also spoke on the occasion.

PU prof invited
for UN summit

CHANDIGARH: The United Nations has invited Dr Vijay Rattan,Professor of Public Administration at Panjab University and a consultant to the United Nations,to attend the United Nations World G-192 Summit on the impact and implications of the global financial and economic crisis on sustainable development and climate change proposals. The summit,to be organised from April 24 to 27,will be attended by nearly 40 heads of states and over 3,570 participants from more than 160 countries.
