11-year-old boy sexually assaulted
Chandigarh: An 11-year-old boy was sexually assaulted in Sector 25 here on Wednesday. The police have booked the accused,Sunny,in a case of unnatural offence under Section 377 of the IPC. He is still at large. The victims mother reported to the police that her son had gone to school to take back her younger children. On the way Sunny met him and took him to the bushes and sodomised him. The accused then fled. The child then reported the matter to his mother who informed the police. The medical examination of the boy was conducted and a case was filed in Sector-11 police station.
Euro Kids celebrates Grandparents Day
Mohali: Euro Kids celebrated Grandparents Day with tiny tots from playgroup,nursery and K.G. presenting songs,rhymes and bhajans. Speaking on the occasion Director Girish Sharma highlighted how the grandparents have stepped in to take-up the responsibility of helping in raising their grandchildren,as most of the parents are working these days. He added that grandparents hold a very special place in the hearts of these little children and as such,these events provide them a opportunity to have a slice of the exuberant days at the pre- school.
Workshop on nursing held at PGI
Chandigarh: A ten-day workshop on evidence-based nursing practice was organised at the National Institute of Nursing Education,PGIMER,Chandigarh,for development of nursing training of nurses. Twenty four participants from different hospital and educational Institutes of Chandigarh,Punjab and Haryana were registered for the workshop. Various topics discussed were the steps of evidence based practice,choosing the right data base,the systematic review and meta analysis,evidence of quantitative and qualitative data,barriers while promoting evidence based nursing practice and the methods of overcoming the barriers while implementing evidence based nursing practice, a spokesperson of the PGIMER said.
337 donate blood at Mohali camp
Mohali: As many as 337 students,staff members and volunteers of the NSS and Rotract units donated blood at a camp organised by Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology (GJIMT) here on Wednesday. Inaugurating the camp,District Planning Committee Chairman N K Sharma complimented the GJIMT staff and students for their social contribution.
