Sas Nagar: Two new cases of fraud have been registered at the Phase 1,police station against Jet Immigration,taking the total number of cases registered against the firm to 24. On Tuesday,Police registered 2 cases against the firm on the complaint of Devinder Kumar and Jaswinder Kumar who were duped of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.2 lakh respectively. The cases have been registered at the Phase-1 police station against Karandeep Singh,Deepak Arora,Madhu and Pooja Munjal,who used to run the immigration firm from Mohali. The firm has duped scores of people on the pretext of sending them abroad and in turn taking huge payments from them. However,they neither sent them abroad nor returned their money. Police have yet to make any arrests in the case.

Minor raped in Sector 25

Chandigarh: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in Sector 25 and the incident came to light on late Tuesday when the father of the girl,a labourer,found his daughter unconscious near the forests. “The father took her to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital,Sector 16 where after medical examination,rape was confirmed,” police said. A case was registered in Sector 11 police station under section 366 and 376 IPC. The father told the police that her daughter had left home at around 5 pm and when she did not return,they went to the nearby forest area to search her and were shocked to find her unconscious. Police said that they were investigating the case to trace the accused.

Youth arrested for attempted rape of minor

Chandigarh: A case has been registered against a 22-year-old youth on charges of attempting to rape a six-year-old girl. Police said the mother of the girl on Wednesday alleged that their neighbour Ram Vilas,a resident of Mauli Jagran,took her minor daughter to his residence and tried to rape her. Station House Officer of Manimajra,Rajesh Shukla said,“A case under section 376,506,511 IPC has been registered and the case is under investigation.” Though the incident occurred on Tuesday,it came to light only on Wednesday after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint. A police officer said,“Vilas made an unsuccessful attempt to molest the girl and fled home after some of his family members entered the room. The girl later narrated the story to her mother who lodged a complaint.”

17-year-old commits suicide

Panchkula: A 17-year-old boy committed suicide on Wednesday at Sector 20. Rajkaran,a resident of Kundi village,went out to play in the evening. According to family members,he came back upset around 5:30 pm. He went to his room and hanged himself from the fan. The family members broke open the door and informed the police. The police came and brought down the body and took him to Alchemist Hospital of Sector 21. He was a student of Class XII of Sanskriti Model School of Sector 20.

Newly wed woman commits suicide

Chandigarh: A newly wed 20-year-old woman,Rajni,ended her life during the intervening night by hanging from the ceiling fan in Mauli Jagran. Police have ruled out the possibility of any foul play. Police said Rajni who was married two month ago was found hanging by her husband after she did not respond to his knocks. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Cash and mobile looted at gun point,2 held

Zirakpur: Zirakpur police managed to nab two out of five culprits who looted cash and mobile from a migrant in Peer Muchhalla in Zirakpur late on Tuesday night. According to the police,Swarn Ram,a Bihar native and resident of Peer Muchhalla,Zirakpur,in his complaint said that he was on his way home at around 11.00 pm on Tuesday when he was waylaid by five persons who pointed a gun and a sharp knife at him and asked him to handover his mobile and valuables. The police managed to nab two culprits including Ashok Kumar and Sonu,both residents of Rajiv colony,Panchkula and recovered a fake air gun from their custody. Two of the other accused have been identified as Chaman Lal and Ravi of Rajiv colony,who are absconding,while the fifth accused is yet to be identified,said the police.
