Water supply to golf course stopped
The Municipal Corporation on Thursday disconnected the water supply to the Chandigarh Golf Club after the club failed to clear its water tariff,for the last five years,amounting to Rs 6.42 lakh. Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkaria,ordered the disconnection.
17-year-old student goes missing
A 17-year-old girl has been missing since February 26,the police said on Thursday. Surinder Kaur of Bhajauliu village near Kharar reported to the police that her daughter Amandeep Kaur had left home for school on February 26 but did not return. Surinder has been searching for her daughter all this while but could not find her. The police have registered a case and have begun investigations.
NRIs gold chain snatched
A septuagenarian NRI womans gold chain was snatched in Phase X on Thursday,the police said. Darshan Kaur reported to the police that she had come to Mohali to visit her relative,Harjeet kaur,with whom she had gone to Phase X market when two unknown bikers suddenly snatched her gold chain and sped away.
Health Ministry approves post for GMCH
Due to increased workload in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Government Medical College (GMCH),the Centre has sanctioned one post of Professor for the department. With the creation of an additional post,the department will be able to start two post graduation (PG) units that will enhance the number of Orthopaedic PG seats. With this,GMCH will now have eight faculty members with two professors,two associate professors and 4 assistant professors.
Locked house burgled in Nayagaon
Unidentified miscreants broke into a locked house and decamped with cash,jewellery and other valuables in Nayagaon. The major theft was noticed late on Thursday evening when the house owner P L Malik returned home after a couple of days and found the front grill broken. When we entered the house,we found the entire place ransacked and cash,jewellery and valuables stolen, said Malik,who was yet to make any estimate of the loss. He has informed the local police.
Medical negligence: Kin appear before panel
The wife of Anil Kumar,who allegedly died due to negligence of doctors and nurses of the Emergency ward at PGI on March 3,appeared before the committee formulated by the hospital to investigate his death. Anils wife ,Gulshan Bala in a statement said that if she was not paid a Rs 25 lakh compensation,she would be forced to commit suicide as her husband was the only earning member in the family. She sent the copy of the statement to health minister,PGI director,IG ,UT Police as well.
