Nearly 10,000 young men have so far participated in the Army recruitment rally currently going on in Faridkot. Youths from the districts of Ferozepur,Faridkot,Muktsar and Bathinda are participating in the six-day rally that began on November 20 and will end on the 26th. The rally is being held for recruitment of soldiers in the general,technical and clerical categories. Inspecting the rally on Monday,Brig K D Malhotra,Deputy Director General of Recruitment (Jalandhar Zone) warned the aspiring youth not to fall into the trap of agents or touts promising them an easy entry into the Army. To make the recruitment process transparent,we have computerised the records of all the candidates so that they can see the status of their files online. The final examination for the rally will be held on November 29. Brig Malhotra was accompanied by Brig S S Khara,Station Commandant,Ferozepur Station,and Col Sanjeev Sood of 51 Medium Regiment. Hoshiarpur: THE Dal Khalsa will organise a Panthic assembly at the Gurdwara Guru Teg Bahadur in Jalandhar on December 3 to examine the performance of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Addressing the media here on Monday,party president H S Dhami said a critical evaluation of the Sikh premier institutions performance was need of the hour as the five-year tenure of the present house was over and elections to the general house was expected any moment. Flanked by party general secretary Dr Manjinder Singh and spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh,Dhami said they would assess and evaluate the achievements,shortcomings and failures of the SGPC in addressing the basic problems and challenges faced by the Sikhs.
