Anupama case: Probe panel unsure about proceeding

The probe in the ongoing case of Anupama’s death by the external inquiry committee seems to have hit a roadblock with the members stuck on a legal point.

The probe in the ongoing case of Anupama’s death by the external inquiry committee seems to have hit a roadblock with the members stuck on a legal point.

In the meeting held on Saturday, the doctors were not called for the investigation as the inquiry committee remained stuck on the legality of whether an inquiry into this incident can be conducted further given the fact that the aggrieved family has already approached the consumer forum against PGIMER.

The inquiry committee had announced that in Saturday’s meeting the doctors who treated Anupama would be called and their statements on the issue of the alleged medical negligence would be recorded. However, sources in PGI revealed that this could not be done as after deliberations the members decided to wait for the legal opinion which they have sought from the PGI’s law department regarding continuation of the external inquiry.
