Another temple robbery,this time in Panchkula

According to Panchkula police,unknown persons barged into the temple around 2 am on Monday by breaking open the lock.

“They then stole 12 silver crowns of the goddess ,same number of silver covers and a nose ring of Sherawali idol,” police said. “All the residents of the temple were sleeping in the basement and they had no clue about the theft. They were awake till midnight.” Police said the matter came to light when a devotee reached the temple at around 4 am to pay obeisance.

“The devotee knocked the front door of the temple and when the priest came out to open the door,he was shocked to see the silver crowns missing,” police said.

Police have registered a case at the Sector 14 police station. Police also searched the area for evidence. This is the second theft in a temple in the past two days.

In the wee hours on Sunday,a mukut worth Rs 10,000 was stolen from Shri Laxmi Narayan temple,Sector 6. Police are yet to arrest any accused in the two cases.
