Milkha Singh was brought alive on the silver screen on Thursday for a select few of the Tricity. A special screening of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,a biopic on the life of the Indian sprinter was organised for family and friends of Singh at PVR cinema at Elante Mall. Nirmal Kaur,Singhs wife, who was a part of the special screening felt that the movie beautifully depicted the life of Singh and was very close to reality. Almost everything I saw in the movie seemed so real. Scenes depicting Singh romancing with an Australian athlete is true. He also wrote about it in his book and told me about it after our marriage. I feel it is absolutely normal. Everyone does such things in their lives and there is nothing wrong about it, Kaur said. Most people at the screening had been associated with Singh and his family for long, and they felt that the movie was very close to what sprinter was in reality. His struggle and determination to swim against the tide has been beautifully depicted in the movie, friends said. It did not seem like I was watching a movie. It was so real, moving and emotional. It will be inspirational not just for Indians, but for people across the world. Farhan Akhtar has crossed the finish line and has served the notice to all actors that he has arrived, said Pratteek Sood,Singhs family friend. It is a well made movie and Akhtars best performance till date. The most heart rending bit is about Singhs childhood, said a close relative,Shikha Monga. We have been so privileged to know him. The movie was as inspirational as he is, said Rabbini Saini,a family friend of Singh. According to Kratma,an architect from Manhattan, the movie will be a forerunner for the Oscars. I feel this movie will win the Academy Awards. It is a true story of a living legend, who put India on the athletics map, enduring personal tragedy. He is a personal inspiration, he added.
