An Anthem for Women?

Kar sammaan uske astittva ka,Sirr jhuka uski himmat ko,Pratishtha kar uske sabbra ki,Jo sehti hai tere anant gunaaho ko

Kar sammaan uske astittva ka,Sirr jhuka uski himmat ko,Pratishtha kar uske sabbra ki,Jo sehti hai tere anant gunaaho ko (Respect her identity, bow to her strength, salute her patience, the one who bears all your offences). The militant spirit of these lines leaves one in no doubt what the songwriter,Delhi-based Rajat Kalra, feels about men. And women. Titled Praballya Ki Bhook, the song will be released today on several radio stations. Kalra calls it “Anti women-dominance anthem”,and was inspired by a news report a year ago. “The report stated that one woman is raped everyday in Delhi,” says Kalra, who has also sung this piece. For this “anthem”,he has roped in indie guitarist Rahul Gupta. “The music is called ‘Ragazzm’. It took me a while to coin this word to describe my music, which blends rock, jazz,Sufi and Blues with a strong flavour of Hindustani

ragas,” says Kalra.
