AAP’s Jagmohan Singh Kang questions Cong for including former CM Charanjeet Singh Channi in CWC

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Kang — who had quit Congress after he was denied a ticket from the Khara Assembly constituency after Channi had managed to get a ticket from the seat for one of his aides — said that the Congress has appointed a “sleazy, corrupt, most opportunist, renegade, leader as the member of CWC.”

Former Punjab minister and senior AAP leader Jagmohan Singh Kang on Thursday said that the Congress high command has gone bankrupt on producing good, clean, loyal, disciplined, hardworking workers and leaders. Kang’s reaction came on reports of former Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi’s inclusion in Congress Working Committee.

“Due to his own and his family’s disproportionate assets and other cases, Punjab Vigilance Department has been holding inquiries against him. Apart from this, his nephew, Bhupinder Singh Honey, was arrested by ED and Rs 10 crore cash was recovered from him. Besides, misusing his official position as CM, Rs 2 crore was demanded by him for facilitating selection of a cricket player Jass Inder Singh to Punjab Civil Service (PCS),” he said.

He added, “In addition to this, he also committed a scam during his son’s marriage by bungling in the project of Dastan-e-Shahadat, a monumental museum depicting Sikh history in his constituency, Chamkaur Sahib. He was also embroiled in a #MeToo controversy. It is surprising that the Congress does not have any other suitable leader with a clean image. There are many other competent senior leaders.”

Later in the day, Channi told the media that Kang had nothing to do with Congress as he had quit the party and hence should not be commenting on its affairs. “The appointments in CWC were an internal matter of the Congress party,” he said.
