A Comic Chase

“Films such as Carry on Jatta and Jatt and Juliet have done amazing business. People have loved them and the word ‘Jatt’ sells. So,we decided to use it and I suggested Jatt Airways,” says Alfaaz. With rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh as its music director and in a special guest appearance,the film also stars Padam,newcomer Samriti Khanna,Manpreet Kaur and Tulip Joshi,who has acted in three Punjabi films . While Kaur will be seen shaking a leg in an item number,Khanna is happy with her big Punjabi break. As for Joshi,who has tried her hand at regional cinema,language is no bar. “Once I have committed and said yes to a project,I am game for it,” says Joshi,who divides her time between family business and films.

The fact that Neeru Bajwa is the reigning queen of Punjabi film industry,doesn’t bother Joshi. “Everyone has a different graph. My aim is to do one or two projects a year,and try new roles. I am not into networking or vying for the 100 crore club. I don’t even have a secretary. I just go with the flow,” says Joshi,who jumped from being an athlete to a science student to films. “The industry is changing and there is good work and availability of good films,” says Joshi. For her,how a film pans out is a director’s vision. She adds that because cinema is a great medium,she wants to create something substantial and meaningful in its realm in the near future.
