A 55-year-old man died after he was hit by an unknown vehicle at the IT Park lightpoint near Bapu Dham Colony on Monday. The deceased,Pitambar,succumbed to his injuries at the Sector-16 hospital in the evening. The mishap took place in the afternoon when Pitambar,a gardener at Shivalik Garden in Manimajra,was going towards the garden from their residence. His son,22-year-old Sheesh Pal was riding pillion,escaped unhurt. A rashly driven unknown vehicle hit them from the rear and sped away. Pitambar was rushed to the hospital where he breathed his last. The victim couldnt note the number or narrate the make of the car to the police.
They even failed to note down the colour of the vehicle thus making it a blind case, said Partap Singh,SHO,Manimajra police station. Interestingly,the victim had sustained injuries on his right foot.
He did not get an injury on the head. His relatives said he was an acute patient of asthma. We will verify the cause of his death after his postmortem report is out, added the SHO.
Meanwhile,the police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence under Section 304-A against the accused in the Manimajra police station.
