The Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC) set up at Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park is lying unused due to delay by the UT Administration in taking a decision on who to hand over the Centre.
While the Department of Information and Technology had suggested that Society for Promotion of Information Technology (SPIC) be handed over the Centre for maintenance purpose, the proposal has not yet been cleared.
The foundation stone of EDC was laid in 2007 and the building inaugurated in 2009. The aim was to allow young entrepreneurs to set up their business by providing them with a space with plug and play facilities. Entrepreneurs with a years experience, but with ideas to start a business venture were to be given space. It was expected that EDC would become a software export centre.

Thereafter entrepreneurs can be invited to set up their business. However, the proposal has not yet received clearance from the legal cell of the Administration.
An official says that the IT Park has been in the midst of controversy over a period of time. This seems to be one of the reasons that decision making is taking time.
