Rajasthan medical student found dead in Bengaluru hostel room, suicide suspected

A 22-year-old medical student was found dead inside his hostel at a government medical college in Bengaluru on Monday. Police suspect that it was a case of suicide.

The deceased was identified as Lokendra Kumar Singh, a student of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institution (formerly Bowring and Lady Curzon Medical College and Research Institute) on Lady Curzon Road. Singh was a native of Rajasthan.

A police official said the incident came to light at around 3pm when Singh’s roommate returned from class. His body was seen hanging from the ceiling through the window.

The reason behind the alleged suicide was not known.

A senior officer said that Singh’s parents were informed and further legal procedure would be initiated once they arrive in the city.
