BBMP officials were also asked to identify localities in the city which are susceptible to flooding due to these reasons, he said, adding that the problem of inundation could be addressed with proper connections to storm water drains. “In places where we face this problem every year, we will take measures to solve it stage by stage,” he said.

On encroachment of storm water drains, Shivakumar said that steps will be taken to remove encroachment by private parties. “We will also issue directions to install sewage treatment plants at all apartment complexes,” he said.

During the visit, locals complained that delay in completion of storm water drain works had caused inundation at Ramanashree Gardenia Layout. Due to pending works, water entered our homes, they said, after which the minister assured that the works will be completed soon.
