A leopard was sighted on the Infosys campus in Mysuru early on Tuesday, triggering a safety alert and prompting the company to ask its employees to work from home for the day. In an internal communication, Infosys informed staff about the incident, stating, “Dear Infoscion, a wild animal has been seen on the Mysuru DC campus today. Efforts are underway to ensure campus safety in collaboration with the task force.” Forest department officials confirmed the leopard was captured on CCTV footage at around 2 am. A search and rescue operation was launched shortly after. I B Prabhu Gowda, deputy conservator of forests (wildlife), said, “Our team reached the location at around 4 am and immediately began a combing operation.” The sprawling 350-acre campus also houses around 4,000 trainees at the Infosys Global Education Centre. Trainees were instructed to stay indoors, and all training programmes, assessments, and inductions for the day were postponed. An internal message to the trainees read: “Training will be rescheduled by one day. Please remain in your hostel rooms and use this time for self-study.” “The operation involves the use of drone cameras and foot patrolling. Specific locations have been identified for setting up camera traps, and cages are being installed to capture the leopard. A veterinary team has also been stationed at the site,” Gowda said. “All staff and trainees on the Infosys campus have been advised to remain alert and follow the prescribed precautionary measures. Forest department officials are on-site and are continuing the operation without interruption,” he added.
