Congress functionaries protest against Prajwal Revanna, in Bengaluru. (Express Photo)The Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to issue a Blue Corner notice against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who fled to Germany on a diplomatic passport after allegations of sexual abuse came to light, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case told Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday.
According to the Interpol, Blue Corner notices are “international requests for cooperation or alerts allowing police in member countries to share critical crime-related information.”
The CBI refers to it as ‘B Series (Blue) Notices’. “The ‘B’ series notices are also called ‘enquiry notices’ and may be issued in order to have someone’s identity verified; to obtain particulars of a person’s criminal record; to locate someone who is missing or is an identified or unidentified international criminal or is wanted for a violation of ordinary criminal law and whose extradition may be requested,” it’s website states.
Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s grandson Prajwal and his father and Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna have been accused in in a sex scandal reportedly involving several women. A case was registered by the Holenarasipura town police on April 28 after pen drives with 2,967 files went viral in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. A 47-year-old woman filed a police complaint alleging she was sexually abused by Prajwal and his father Revanna.
Earlier in the day, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that a lookout notice had been issued by the SIT against H D Revanna, who is currently facing two FIRs against him. He added that Revanna, a former minister, who has been served a second notice (summons), has time till this evening to appear for questioning before the SIT probing the case.
“It (lookout notice) has been issued against him (Revanna) already. It was issued against both — Revanna and Prajwal. Anticipating that Revanna may also plan to go abroad, it has been done,” Parameshwara said.
While speaking to reporters here, he added, “Revanna has time till this evening to appear before SIT for inquiry. Second notice was given to him. In the meantime, in the Mysuru kidnap case he is said to have applied for a bail.”
The second FIR was registered against Revanna and his confidant Sathish Babanna in Mysuru on Thursday night for allegedly abducting a woman, who is also reportedly a victim of sexual abuse.
Prajwal is said to have flown abroad on April 27, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka held on April 26. His advocate had sought seven days time for him to appear before the SIT, to which the investigating team has replied it is not possible as there is no such provision.
The second FIR was filed against Prajwal by the CID in Bengaluru on Wednesday based on a complaint by a JD(S) party worker, who alleged that she was raped by the MP at gunpoint.
