The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts that “mainly clear skies over the next week with fog and mist very likely during the early morning hours in some areas and the maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 28°C and 17°C respectively,”
On Monday, the maximum temperature in the city reached 29.2°C, which is two degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 16.1 °C, which was 0.3 degrees below normal. The lowest recorded temperature in Bengaluru on that day was 13.3°C at Yelahanka.
Over the next two days, the minimum temperature is projected to go down to 13.1 °C in some parts of the city as the winter weather sets in, resulting in a notable difference between day and night temperatures, with a nearly 15°C variation between maximum and minimum readings.
Although Bengaluru is expected to remain within the normal winter range, the minimum temperature in parts of north interior Karnataka, including Bidar and Belagavi, may drop up to five degrees, signalling the likelihood of significantly cold weather. The cold wave in Bidar in north Karnataka is likely to prevail for five days.

The lowest minimum temperature recorded in December in the last 15 years is 12.8°C on December 24, 2011, while the lowest-ever minimum temperature recorded in the city was 8.9°C on December 29, 1883.
