We have issued a notice to them to declare details of such unauthorised OFCs latest by December 20 afterwhich the same will be regularised,” a senior BBMP official said as per PTI reports.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has brought back a man, wanted in a rape case in Karnataka and facing an Interpol red notice, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), said officials. The CBI on Friday said that its Global Operations Centre (GOC) in coordination with Interpol NCB — Abu Dhabi, Karnataka Police, and Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi (Ministry of External Affairs) — geolocated the accused, identified as Midhun V V Chandran (in his late 30s), in the UAE and the General Secretariat of Interpol issued a “red notice” against him in January 2023, based on Karnataka police request.
In other news, out of the 46,829 government schools in Karnataka, only 23 do not have toilet facilities, the Congress government said in the Karnataka legislature Friday while indicating that orders were issued on December 1 for the construction of new toilet complexes at 5,775 schools in the state.

Aviation student caught with over 1kg of hashish oil in Kerala Pathanamthitta
An aviation student has been arrested from Thiruvalla here for allegedly being in possession of over a kilogram of hashish oil, police said on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Kozhikode native, who is studying aviation in Bengaluru, was caught by Thiruvalla police and the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) Police said that during his interrogation, the arrested accused said he brought the drugs from Bengaluru to distribute it to students in and around Thiruvalla.
The aviation student was caught with the drugs from near Thiruvalla railway station following a tip-off received by District Police Chief V Ajith IPS, police said. (PTI)
Family of 3 from Kerala found dead at resort in Karnataka
A couple from Kerala allegedly killed their 11-year-old daughter and later died by suicide at a resort in Karnataka's Kodagu area, police said on Sunday.
The bodies of Vinod Babusenan (43), wife Zubi Abraham (38), and daughter, who hailed from Kollam were found in the room of the resort in Kaggodlu village, they said.
A suicide note recovered from the spot revealed the financial crisis to be the reason behind taking such an extreme step, police said.
According to police, the family had checked in at the resort on Friday evening. (PTI)
K'taka Minister harps on promoting scientific temper among school students
Karnataka Minister for Science and Technology NS Boseraju has instructed the Department of Science and Technology to design a new policy formulated to encourage the cultivation of scientific temper and achieve the objective of "Science for All." In a statement, the minister said that after the success of Chandrayaan-3, children's interest in space has increased. It needs encouragement.
In this regard, providing access to a telescope is appropriate in order to promote scientific temper and science curiosity among the school students in the state.
The Minister has instructed officials to design policies and programmes to increase scientific interest among school students. (PTI)

4 college students die after speeding car falls into ditch in Karnataka Chikkaballapura
Four college students died after the car they were travelling in allegedly toppled and fell into a ditch near the highway underpass on the outskirts of Chikkaballapura, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday night when the students were heading from Bengaluru to Chikkaballapura to drop two of them.
According to the police, one of the students was driving the car. The accident took place when the driver lost control of the overspeeding vehicle, which overturned and plunged into the ditch.
Three of them died on the spot. One person was greviously injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries during the course of treatment.
A case was registered and investigation is underway, they said. (PTI)
Why Centre targets only Cong and not BJP? asks Karnataka CM on Dhiraj Sahu I-T raids
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday accused the Centre of targeting only the Congress and not the BJP, in the wake of seizure of unaccounted cash amounting to over Rs 200 crore from premises allegedly linked to Jharkhand Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu.
He was reacting to the recent Income Tax raids on the entities linked to Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu in Jharkhand and Odisha.
"They (BJP led central government) are only targeting Congress. Let them raid BJP leaders as well. Only then will it be known how much (ill-gotten wealth) they have," Siddaramaiah told reporters.
The CM said whoever amasses black money is wrong, according to the Income Tax Act. Let the I-T department take action as per law.
However, Siddaramaiah's grouse was that the central agencies were selectively targeting the Congress. (PTI)

Bengaluru witnessed highest number of acid attacks against women in the country in 2022, with the city police registering six cases, the latest report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) said.
According to the data, among the 19 metropolitan cities listed in the NCRB data, Bengaluru topped the overall list with eight women falling victims to acid attack last year. At the second position was Delhi which saw seven women falling prey to acid attacks in 2022 followed by Ahmedabad at third position with registration of five such cases, the data showed.
An analysis of the NCRB data showed that the national capital (Delhi) reported 7 cases of attempted attacks followed by Bengaluru which registered 3 such cases last year.

One of the prominent cases of acid attack which shook Bengaluru last year was that of a 24-year-old M.Com graduate who was attacked on April 28 when she was on her way to work. According to police, the accused had been stalking the woman for several years.
He approached her for marriage and when she rejected his proposal, he splashed acid on her. The man was nabbed later in May from Tiruvannamalai Ashram where he was allegedly hiding in the guise of a "Swami". In June 2023, the victim was offered a job on contract basis by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's office at his secretariat.
Another similar case was reported on June 10, 2022 wherein a man allegedly threw acid on the face of his female friend after she turned down his marriage proposal. (PTI)
JDS expels Ibrahim, Nanu for opposing party pact with BJP
The Janata Dal (Secular) national executive held a meeting in Bengaluru Saturday and expelled former Karnataka unit chief C M Ibrahim and national vice-president C K Nanu from Kerala for indulging in “anti-party” activities and opposing the party’s alliance with the BJP for the Lok Sabha polls next year.
Former PM and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda announced the decision which comes ahead of a December 11 meeting of a parallel national executive called by Ibrahim, who claimed to be the head of the “original JD(S)”.
Deve Gowda said, “Former party president C M Ibrahim was part of discussions regarding alliance with the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls along with me and the chairman of the party core committee, G T Deve Gowda.” However, Ibrahim, he said “gave statements to the press that were damaging to the party and we have decided to expel him from the party.”

Veteran Kannada actress Leelavathi laid to rest as thousands pay tearful homage
Veteran Kannada film actress Leelavathi who worked in many south Indian movies was laid to rest with full state honours at her farmhouse at Soladevanahalli on the city outskirts.
Leelavathi (86), who had acted in over 600 movies, including those made in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu, was hospitalised on Friday following respiratory complications and age-related ailments, where she breathed her last.
Leelavathi's son Vinod Raj performed the last rites.
Thousands of people paid their last respects to her.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar were among those who paid rich tributes to the veteran Kannada actress.

JD(S) national executive committee meeting expelled Ibrahim & Nanu: Deve Gowda
D(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda on Saturday said that the Karnataka state unit president C M Ibrahim and party national vice-president C K Nanu have been expelled from the party due to 'anti-party activities' at the national executive committee meeting.
After the national executive committee meeting, Gowda announced the decision to sack the two leaders.
Gowda said the image and the interests of the party were taking a beating due to which the decision was taken.
"A national executive meeting was convened in Bengaluru and a unanimous decision was taken for their ouster," Gowda said.
Mandya district JD(S) president D Ramesh and West Bengal JD(S) unit president Puneeth Kumar Singh, moved the resolution for the expulsion of Ibrahim and Nanu from the party at the executive meeting.

ISIS module leader among 15 operatives arrested in Maharashtra, Karnataka: NIA
In a massive crackdown on the ISIS terrorist organisation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested its 15 operatives during multiple raids across Maharashtra and Karnataka, an official said.
The arrested accused included the leader of an ISIS module who was administering 'bayath' (oath of allegiance) to new recruits, a spokesperson of the federal anti-terror agency said.
Several NIA teams swooped down on as many as 44 locations in Padgha-Borivali, Thane, Mira Road and Pune in Maharashtra, and Bengaluru in Karnataka early Saturday morning, and apprehended the 15 accused for allegedly promoting terror and terror-related acts and activities of the proscribed organisation, the official said. Karnataka HC issues notice to MLA Kaneez Fatima in election petition case
The High Court of Karnataka has issued notice to MLA Kaneez Fatima in a case challenging her election on grounds that she had given false information about her wealth in the election affidavit.
Representing Congress, Fatima was elected MLA from the Gulbarga Uttar Constituency in the assembly polls held in May this year.
A single judge bench of Justice CM Poonacha, which heard the petition on Friday, issued the notice and adjourned the hearing by four weeks allowing the respondent to file her objections.
The petitioner, A S Sharanabasappa, had contested the election for the same seat on a JD(U) ticket and lost.

Panathur residents hold silent protest to demand widended Panathur S cross road
Residents of Panathur on Saturday held a silent protest by forming a human chain demanding widening of the Panathur S cross road in order to ease vehicular movement and decongest traffic.
The protest was held along the Panathur-Balagere-Varthur road. The residents have been grappling with major traffic gridlocks because of the narrow railway underbridge and the cramped S cross road. Residents complain that the traffic congestion has caused major delays in reaching workplaces, schools and colleges.
Meanwhile, civic official agencies maintain that the delay is due to the land acquisition issues and the clearing off the settlements near the S cross junction.
Man caught for trying to rob women passenger in metro train
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) authorities on Thursday caught a man at Majestic station for trying to rob and inappropriately touching a woman in the metro train. Subsequently, the BMRCL officials handed him over to the Upparpet police station where he is currently being interrogated. However, the investigation suggested that the accused who is identified as Lokesh is a habitual offender and was earlier arrested by the same police station for theft.
According to BMRCL officials, the incident took place on December 7, when the woman passenger was traveling from Rajajinagar to MG Road. at 9:40 am. According to BMRCL, the lady passenger sought help after she was touched inappropriately by the accused at Majestic metro station. After she screamed, two security personnel grabbed the man and turned him in to police.

In mutual consent divorce pleas in Hindu marriages, civil courts must wait 18 months for reconciliation: Karnataka HC
In cases of couples seeking divorce through mutual consent under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, courts must wait for 18 months to facilitate a possible reconciliation, the Karnataka High Court has said in a recent ruling.
A division bench of the Karnataka High Court passed the order in the case of a couple who got married in November 2020 and sought a divorce through mutual consent in September 2021 by filing a petition before a civil court.
The civil court dismissed the divorce plea nine months after it was filed under the consideration that the couple was no longer interested in separating.

BJP MLA Basangouda Yatnal moves Karnataka HC against withdrawal of sanction to CBI to probe DKS
Karnataka BJP MLA Basangouda Yatnal has approached the Karnataka High Court against the recent decision by the Congress government to withdraw sanction to prosecute Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in a disproportionate assets case. The matter is set to be heard on December 15 by Justice M Nagaprasanna.
The previous BJP government had given consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate a Rs 74 crore corruption case against Shivakumar.
Yatnal had previously filed an impleading application when Shivakumar had filed a memo to withdraw his appeal against the sanction following the cabinet decision on November 23. Yatnal’s counsel had at the time described the withdrawal of sanction as “tailor-made” in order to “scuttle the investigation”.
