The RTI activists in the state have decided to hold a meeting in Porbander near Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Sadbhavana fast venue with a plan to approach the central government for introducing a bill to safeguard RTI activists across the nation.

Around 200 RTI activists from Saurashtra and other parts of Gujarat gathered at city’s Juhapura area on Sunday to extend their support to the family of RTI activist Nadeem Saiyed who was brutally murdered on Saturday morning near his residence in Juhapura.

Bhikhalal Jethva, father of slain RTI activist Amit Jethva and Joint Secretary of Gujarat RTI Activists Association said,“The attacks on RTI activists are politically driven and we will respond to them in extreme manner. We will hold a meeting in Porbander and plan for putting our views in front of the central government.”

“We will demand that the Centre should pass a bill under which all the RTI activists across the nation should get protection and people in the remote village should be able to use the RTI without any fear,” he said.

“RTI activists in the state will meet on November 20 in Porbander. The sacrifices of slain RTI activists Vikram Dodhiya,Amit Jethva and Nadeem Saiyed will not go in vain. We will demand protection and justice for the slain RTI activists,” he added. The RTI activists have already handed over memorandum to local authorities in Saurashtra and they will give it to authorities in Rajula and Khambha.
