The complainant also stated that claims in the short video clip were false and that his post was intended to “create unrest, fear, and confusion”.

“Around an hour after the FIR was launched, we arrested Gheravda, a tailor who is also president of the Upleta Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During primary interrogation, he said he uploaded the video about the RSS by mistake and that he had subsequently deleted it,” Inspector K K Jadeja, in charge of Upleta police station, told The Indian Express.

Gheravada was booked under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 67 (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.

In some of his social media posts, Gheravda is identified as a worker of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), said officers.

In his complaint, Parmar, who is a farmer, stated that when he was surfing a social media website on Thursday morning, he came across a post by Gheravada, which was uploaded to “harm the prestige of the RSS”. The video had objectionable visuals, he added.
