BJP intensified its campaigning for elections to the Rajkot Municipal Corporation with ministers Govind Patel and Vijay Rupani on Friday terming the Patidar agitation for quota benefits as a proxy war by Congress to overcome dominance of the saffron party in Gujarat politics. The party, however, fielded 20 Patidars, its biggest representation to any community the poll.

Water Supply Minister Vijay Rupani took a dig at Congress and accused it of using the reservation agitation as a front. “Congress doesn’t have issues to raise. This time they have used the reservation stir as a front. But, they have been exposed. They (quota stir leaders) had met Siddharth Patel. Their lawyer Mangukia is a Congress spokesperson,” said Rupani.
