Even as politics across the country was mired in “nepotism”, PM Narendra Modi worked to replace it with the “politics of performance”, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah said on Thursday. While inaugurating the Archaeological Experiential Museum, Prerna Complex, and Sports Complex in the PM’s home town Vadnagar in Mehsana, Shah said Modi transformed the poverty he faced in his life into compassion and worked towards the welfare of the poor across the country with a “great vision”.

Shah said, “Being born into such adverse conditions and thinking of the welfare of society without harbouring any bitterness is a quality that can only come from a divinely gifted and talented individual like Narendra Modi, the son of Vadnagar.”

Listing initiatives like ‘Kanya Kelavani’ for girls, the Union Minister said Modi faced many challenges in his own education during his childhood and placed great importance on primary education during his stint as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

In his address, the Union Home Minister said that today, the entire world is following in the footsteps of Modi. Shah further said that Thursday’s event will prominently place Vadnagar on the map of the country and the world.

Shah also presided over the Heritage Complex Development Plan, Urban Road Development, and Beautification Programme in Vadnagar. In addition, a film on the journey of PM Modi was released in the presence of Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel.

“Narendra Modi Ji travelled across Gujarat to understand the problems of the people and, after becoming the CM of the state, worked towards solving all those issues. Modi ji envisioned an organisation-based party in Gujarat and introduced a new approach to gaining popularity, not based on caste, personality, or dynastic politics, but on ideology and development. While politics across the country was mired in nepotism, Narendra Modi worked to replace it with the ‘politics of performance’,” said Shah.

“In Gujarat, Modi ji created a model of inclusive and comprehensive development, ensuring that no region or individual in the state was left behind,” he added, listing out schemes in Gujarat such as Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojana, Sagar Khedu Sarvangi Vikas Yojana, 24-hour electricity supply, road networks, infrastructure, solar energy initiatives, structured urban and rural development.

Shah said this model became widely recognised and accepted across the country as the “Gujarat Model,” which is why Modi got elevated as the Prime Minister.

Highlighting the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Shah mentioned that during Modi’s tenure, the dream of building a grand temple for Lord Ram was fulfilled. He also hailed Modi for abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir and “ending triple talaq”, the latter move establishing “secularism”.

Shah said that due to Modi’s “firm resolve and continuous campaigns” against terrorism and Naxalism, both issues are now nearing their end in the country. Due to strong security policy, surgical and air strikes were conducted by India, sending out a clear message to the world that no one can meddle with the country’s army and borders, he added.
He also emphasised how the PM advanced the welfare of tribal communities, backward classes, and Dalits, and empowered women by ensuring 33 per cent reservation for them in the legislature and Parliament, giving them a significant role in policymaking.

He said that a strong foreign policy emerged during Modi’s tenure, stating that India does not wish to advance by either intimidating others or bowing down before anyone. He said Modi has established a new tradition in foreign policy, one that focuses on engaging in dialogue with other nations based on equality and mutual respect.

“The sight of world leaders paying obeisance at the Rajghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the G20 is a testament to India’s power. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India has risen from the 11th to the 5th largest economy in the world. In 2027, India will become the third largest economy in the world,” he added.

The Archaeological Experiential Museum and Excavation Complex has been built at a cost of approximately Rs 300 crore. The Union Home Minister also formally inaugurated the Prerna Complex and the school where PM Modi received primary education. While inaugurating the sports complex, Shah said PM Modi has set a goal for the 2036 Olympics to be held in Ahmedabad, adding that the children of Vadnagar will be ready to participate in those games by then.
