Amitabh Bachchan shoots at Somnath Temple
Somnath: After completing his shoot with lions in Gir,Amitabh Bachchan on Friday arrived at the Somnath Temple as part of final leg of his Gujarat Tourism campaign. Clad in a white dhoti-kurta,the 67-year-old actor took part in the morning aarti and offered prayers to Lord Shiva. He later shot for the commercial in the famous temple. Somnath… attacked and ravaged by foreign invaders,but rebuilt as symbol of faith. Here now… at 5 am it looks divine and most spiritual. An arrow on the temple points to the South Pole. From here no land or structure obstructs this line to the pole, wrote Bachchan on his Twitter page. This would be the final session of Bachchans first phase of visit to Gujarat,sources in Junagadh district administration said,adding that his second visit is yet to be finalised. Bachchan,who has been in the state for a week to promote Gujarat Tourism,will leave for Mumbai on Saturday.

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat government has announced its initiative to launch a company in the field of civil aviation with an aim to provide airports and allied infrastructure facilities and to fulfil the need for trained human resources in the field. This was announced by state Tourism Minister Jay Narayan Vyas and Minister of State for Planning Saurabh Dalal in a press release on Friday. The proposed public sector enterprise has been named Gujarat State Aviation Company (GUJSAC).
The release said the state government has already applied to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs for the registration of the company. It will be headed by the secretary of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department,Vipul Mitra. The release said that in order to fulfil the need for trained human resources in the field,the company will not only establish flying clubs and gliding clubs,but will also play a major role in training pilots,wireless operators and ground engineers. It is also proposed that the company will explore the possibilities of aero-sports in the state.
The state government has made a budgetary provision for the autonomous company in its 2009-10 budget.
Modi to address inaugural session at BJP CMs conclave in Mumbai today
Mumbai: Chief Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address at a two-day conference of chief ministers of BJP-ruled states on ‘good governance’,beginning near Mumbai on Saturday. The conference will focus on review in a minute manner of department-wise implementation of poll manifesto in each state where we are in power,” programme organiser Vinay Sahasrbuddhe said. The meet,to be held at Sangh Parivar’s training centre Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini,would also discus out-of-the-box initiatives taken in BJP-ruled states and also the level of state government participation in Central government-sponsored schemes,he said. Named Suraj-Sankalp (commitment to good governance),the conference will focus on review of some noteworthy and innovative welfare or development initiatives. The conclave would be inaugurated by BJP chief Nitin Gadkari,who is of the view that party cadre would have to undergo training programmes. The programme has been designed by Sahasrabuddhe and other senior leaders on the lines of training programmes run for RSS leaders.
