As work on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is in full swing in Gujarat, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer Hareet Shukla convened a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of recognised political parties, including the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party. The CEO apprised the representatives of the parties on the progress made so far under SIR. A statement from the CEO said more than 50,000 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties and more than 30,000 volunteers are also assisting the SIR exercise. The CEO also urged the political parties to appoint more BLAs since the role of BLOs and BLAs would be more important in the coming phases of SIR.
