A man from Vadodara who allegedly used to rob women in moving trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai was held from Ahmedabad on Thursday. The city Crime Branch sleuths arrested him from Relief Road area following a tip-off.
The youth was identified as Keyur Patel (26) from Waghodia area of Vadodara. According to police,he confessed during interrogation he had stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 2.72 lakh from a train that arrived in Ahmedabad in the wee hours.
DCB officials said Patel targeted women in Gujarat-bound trains that leave Mumbai in the night,like Gujarat Mail and Lokshakti Express trains,and was involved in seven major thefts on trains.
The police said he was arrested in Mumbai in 2009 and locked up at the Borivali police station.
