External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is on a three-day trip to Gujarat, laid the foundation stones of Labour Delivery Recovery complexes at various places (Express)Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday arrived in Gujarat for a three-day trip, and visited to Narmada district to inspect the progress of the projects undertaken in his adopted villages under the MPLAD funds.
Jaishankar began his visit by inaugurating a health and wellness centre in Vyadhar before proceeding to inaugurate a similar centre in Amadla, where he also visited a smart classroom.
“Visiting Narmada district #Gujarat to see the progress on MPLAD works. Started with projects in Vyadhar. Very glad to see the new Health and Wellness Centre being operationalized. It has evoked a positive community response,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.
The minister said that the operational health centre has evoked a “positive community response”. He added, “I heard from the medical officers of the health and wellness centres that the trust of the people has increased for preventive testing, which is very essential. If the public trusts the facility, there will be preventive testing. There has been a positive response. The students of Class VII and VIII also enjoy the interactive screens in their smart classes,” he told reporters.
Jaishankar also visited Jetpor village, where he performed a ground-breaking ceremony of a Labour Delivery Recovery (LDR) complex and virtually laid the foundation stone of two other such complexes in Kolvan and Sagai villages in the district. He visited Agar village to lay the foundation of another LDR complex besides flagging off a vehicle for the Navodaya School.
On Tuesday, Jaishankar will visit the Chhotubhai Purani College of Physical Education in Rajpipla and inaugurate a new gymnasium and sports facilities. He is then scheduled to go to Lacchras village to inaugurate a smart Aanganwadi and a smart classroom and proceed to an interactive public event in Charusat University in Changa, where he will address a gathering on ‘Changing World: Opportunities and Challenges’.
The minister will visit Lothal archaeological site in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, before leaving for New Delhi.
