A speeding car hit a stationary car of a doctor who had just parked his vehicle near Shyamal Cross Roads on Thursday and got out for a morning walk. While the injured doctor was rushed to hospital, the driver of the speeding car fled the spot.

Later, when the police reached the spot, they found bottles of liquor stocked in the car.

Dr Harshad Parikh was about to begin his morning walk when a Maruti Fronti car (GJ 1 BP 7333) rammed his car near the Sainik Petrol Pump. Parikh’s car moved a few feet ahead on the impact and its rear portion was damaged completely,in the process injuring the doctor who was feet ahead his car.

According to police, people from petrol pump and nearby houses rushed Parikh to a private hospital and called police. By then, the driver of the speeding car fled. Police found 100 litres of country-made liquor stocked in his car.

Inspector HB Jamod said,“The car has the number plate on it and we will try to establish the identity of the driver. If it was a stolen car,we will probe further.”

The police have registered a case of rash driving and booked the accused under Prohibition Act too.
