Delhi blast: State on alert,security stepped up at courts

An Alert has been sounded in Gujarat in the wake of the bomb blast at the Delhi High Court on Wednesday morning.

“We have doubled the security at the Gujarat High Court while extra cover has been extended to all the lower courts in the state. We have asked all the courts to use door access control systems at entry points,” said DGP Chitranajan Singh.

Police said that soon after the blast,a security check was conducted in the Gujarat HC based on a threat message sent to the police.

Besides the respective local police and central security agencies,Chetak commandos and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) would guard important public places,including railway and bus stations,markets,government and private buildings,across the state.

In view of the ongoing Ganesh festival,police have also alerted puja organisers at pandals and religious organisations,and asked them to install CCTV cameras.

Surat police commissioner Rakesh Asthana said,“We have taken necessary precautions. We have decided deploy more police personnel for the immersion of Ganesh idols. The processions will be covered through CCTV cameras at various locations.”
